In 1982 there was an immense threat to the weights and measures trade due to the implementation of periodical amendments in the weights and measures act and its enforcement rules. The confusion in enforcing the act and rules gave much trouble to the metric licensees.
At this juncture Mr.V.S.JAYACHANDRAN from MADURAI conceived an idea to form an Association for metric licensees. Supported by Mr.T.M.A.K.RADHAKRISHNA CHETTIAR, Mr.KUPPUSAMY CHETTIAR AND Mr.K.R.RAJENDRAN an Association was formed in the name and style of MADURAI RAMNAD WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS, REPAIRERS ASSOCIATION in Madurai.
The eldest person Mr.R.SANKARAN was requested to occupy the president chair and Mr.K.R.RAJENDRAN was the secretary and the founder Mr. V.S.JAYACHANDRAN became the treasurer of the association. With overwhelming support of all persons in this trade, the association grew in vast and rapidly. In order to integrate the voice of all metric licensees in TAMIL NADU, the association was taken to its next level.
All valuable persons from big cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Salem etc., put their mind and hands together so that the association activities spread over to state level organization. Then the name of the association was amended as TAMILNADU WEIGHTS AND MEASURES MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS AND REPAIRERS ASSOCIATION. Shortly called TNWMMDR ASSOCIATION.
Since then, so many gentlemen occupied the association post and gave various dimensions to it. Due to their hard work, our association has grown by leaps and bounds. Now it has more than 600 members, 12 office bearers and 21 Executive committee members spread all over TAMILNADU.
The periodical EC meeting takes place at all parts of the state in every quarter finds the remedy for any type of problems to its members.
The seminar teaches the legal obligations, clears the technical issues to its members and integrates them to run a healthy trade. The periodical meetings and interaction with the legal metrology officials ensures the good rapport with them.
More over Mr.V.I.A.FAROOK who has accomplished three TRADE FAIRS in successive years for our association which makes the suppliers and buyers to shake hands with each other in a single window. It also enriches the member’s technical and commercial knowledge in this trade.
Though the president, the secretary, the treasurer and the office bearers act as the pillars of the association, they never hesitate to delegate association work to the right person irrespective of their designation, which makes the association still stronger.
